Outdoor electrical installations must be designed and installed to a higher standard than those indoors. Cables buried underground require armoured protection (SWA cable), all outdoor fixtures and fittings must carry a suitable IP (Ingress Protection) rating for their exposure to moisture and dust, and any circuits supplying outdoor sockets or equipment must have RCD protection to guard against electric shock. Getting this right matters: a poorly installed outdoor lighting circuit can be a serious safety hazard, particularly in wet conditions.

We use high-quality, weatherproof components and run all buried cables at the correct depth with appropriate protection. Where PIR sensors, dusk-to-dawn switching, or smart controls are required, we can incorporate these into the design.
All outdoor electrical work we carry out is compliant with BS 7671 wiring regulations. Circuits are protected with RCDs and all work in notifiable areas of the home — including garden circuits connected to the house wiring — is notified to Building Control where required. You receive a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate or Electrical Installation Certificate on completion, giving you a permanent record of the work carried out.
